Lessons with me are focused on one simple goal: helping students learn guitar by teaching them how to teach themselves or, by helping them learn how to learn. This involves practicing simple and effective “meta-skills”- applied to learning the specifics of guitar- that make acquiring, synthesizing, and using information easier and more effective.
Sound complicated or out of reach? It’s not. In fact, it’s much faster and simpler than the conventional do-this-no-not-like-that-do-it-this-way approach. And the Return on Investment is huge, regardless of age or skill level.
When these meta-skills are applied and practiced in the context of guitar instruction, you will:
Reach your goals of learning guitar more quickly and easily, with a deeper understanding and mastery of the material.
Acquire skills and habits that can be applied to effectively learn absolutely anything else: Concepts like: mental and physical awareness, active engagement when learning, the importance of asking good questions, breaking complex material down in to simpler sub-groups, the importance of context for deeper understanding, using recall and repetition effectively, learning by doing, the importance and value of mistakes, and many others.
I have found that when approaching learning this way- with conscious effort applied to acquire meta-skills and applying them to the specifics of guitar- learning takes place faster and more deeply, regardless of age or skill level.
I teach all skill levels, beginner to advanced, and most ages (Under 10 years old on a case-by-case basis, but please feel free to inquire)
